Overview
John McAfee's Death refers to the death of John McAfee by Suicide within a Spanish prison cell. McAfee was in the prison cell on tax evasion charges, and earlier that day it was authorized that the extradition process to bring him to America for trial would begin. McAfee was a magnanimous figure in the tech and meme world, as both a pioneer, advocate and criminal.
Background
John McAfee was arrested in Spain on October 6th, 2020, on tax evasion charges. Prior to this he had been living on his boat with his wife, going from country to country while on the run from U.S. authorities due to his unwillingness to pay taxes. This was not his first time on the run, as he had famously gone on the run following the death of a neighbor of his in Belize, though he stopped being a person of interest in that case after some time. McAfee, the creator of the security suite which shares his name, has long been an advocate against taxes, and the very technology he helped create. Since leaving the company, he had maintained a flow of income in advocating for Cryptocurrency, claiming that it is required for future people to be free of governmental oversight into their wealth.
Online Reaction
The reaction to his death has been initially controversial, much like Jeffrey Epstein Suicide Conspiracy Theories because McAfee was very vocal in his decrying of the U.S government, different agencies within them, and outright doxxed and threatened federal agents via Twitter in the past. Also on his Twitter page is a tweet and picture saying that he would never commit suicide and to treat any news of his death as murder, tweeted[1] on November 30th, 2019 (shown below).
Getting subtle messages from U.S. officials saying, in effect: "We're coming for you McAfee! We're going to kill yourself". I got a tattoo today just in case. If I suicide myself, I didn't. A year later, on October 15th, 2020, McAfee again tweeted[2] an update, saying that he is content in the Spanish prison, has friends, good food, and directly says that if he is killed in a suspicious suicide, that it was not his own doing (shown below).
I am content in here. I have friends.
The food is good. All is well.
Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine.— John McAfee (@officialmcafee) October 15, 2020
Several people on Twitter[3], such as @Reflog_18, have expressed the sentiment that John McAfee didn't kill himself, calling back to Epstein didn't kill himself after the controversial millionaire socialite was found dead of suicide while in prison (shown below).

While unrelated to the conspiracy surrounding his death, some have chosen this time to remember the meme legend who has had numerous crazy, absolutely wild, things surround him online for years, with his most famous tweet remembered by Twitter[4] user @Chatvert (shown below).
