Origin
On June 21st, 2024, Twitter / X[1] user @dEi_pft uploaded a PNG template of two hands pulling both sides of a mouth wide, as if forcing it to smile. The caption roughly translates as "For those who want to force a smile". The post received over 11,000 reposts and 121,000 likes in one month (shown below).
Spread
The post grew popular with various edits and fan art. For example on June 21st, 2024, Twitter / X[2] user @kjz42828 uploaded an edit that received more than 7,200 likes in one month (shown below, left). The next day, Twitter / X[3] user @tokotoko4000 uploaded an edit using scene from School Days. The post received over 2,600 likes in one month (shown below, right).
