Freddie Mercury Krueger is a 2019 Halloween costume from Reddit user @jared531 that has been circulating around the web ever since. It is a split between former Queen singer Freddie Mercury and the notorious Nightmare on Elm Street character, Freddy Krueger.

Origin

The costume was originally posted in subreddits r/pics, r/queen and r/HalloweenCostume on October 31, 2019 by user and creator @jared531, and also to his Instagram on the same day. He wore it to the NYC Halloween Village Parade that night and also posted a tutorial of it a few days later on Instructables.com.

Spread

The picture circulated in several other subreddits over the past few years like r/nextfuckinglevel, r/InterestingAsFuck, r/photoshopbattles and r/memes but recently went viral on Twitter in September 2021 when user juda1313 posted it and gained 188,000 likes and 26,500 retweets, including from some notable celebrity accounts like Patton Oswalt and Rex Chapman.

The picture was also re-posted in the r/pics subreddit by user ohnoh18 where it gained much more attention than the original 2019 post, and was also circulated by several notable Instagram accounts like @no.fucksgiiven and @girlsthinkimfunny. Several users also posted it to Imgur and 9gag as well where it accumulated tens of thousands of other views.

To date, the picture has received at least 250,000 likes and has reached a spread of at least 15 million people.
