About

Funny. Yes, But Not Funny Haha, Funny Weird refers to a viral original sound on TikTok using a line of dialogue from The Backyardigans. The sound was uploaded to the platform in late May 2022 and went viral in June, used in lip dub skits about weird experiences. The audio clip comes from the 2005 episode "Castaways", which inspired another meme on TikTok in April 2021.

Origin

On September 19th, 2005, The Backyardigans episode 11 aired. At one point, Uniqua, Pablo and Tyrone find a coconut tree and try to climb it. Austin throws a coconut to them from off-screen. Confused, they all ask each other who got the coconut but none of them know. Austin rolls two more coconuts at them and Tyone says, "Funny." Pablo says, "Yes, but not funny haha, funny weird" (shown below).

On May 29th, 2022, TikToker[1] @szasgrandchildren posted a meme using the clip, captioned, "when he says she's like a sister to me," gaining over 94,000 views in two weeks (shown below). The same day she uploaded a cropped version of the video as an original sound to TikTok[2] without the caption, gaining over 1.1 million views in the same span of time.
