Backround Info
Genesis 3.9 refers to Genesis, (Specifically Genesis 4) a tournament for the Super Smash Bros series. It takes place in California. The tournament occurring in the San Francisco Bay Area of the United States state of California. The first Genesis tournament took place in 2009 in Antioch at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds. Alongside EVO, The Big House, and Pound, the GENESIS series is considered to be one of the most prestigious Super Smash Bros. tournament series.

The Situation
the losers' eighths set between komorikiri and CaptainZack, as well as the set between ZeRo and Dabuz, were both played with a Damage Ratio of 0.9. While it remains unclear how the damage ratio was changed, many players argue that the competitive integrity of the event has been ruined due to the unusual circumstances of the matches. The tournament organizers have faced criticism for failing to check the setups earlier to ensure the proper ruleset, and for forcing komorikiri and CaptainZack to only replay the final game of the set, instead of replaying the entirety of both sets. Dr. Z justified that by stating that, by starting a game, the player accepted the result of the previous one. The TOs also claimed that the set between Dabuz and ZeRo was played with the correct settings, but it was later proven that it was not the case. Dabuz later made a TwitLonger asking for the reimbursement of his and komorikiri's travel fees. This request was satisfied as the TOs promised to allow Dabuz and komorikiri to attend a future major tournament of their choice with all expenses covered.
