Girl At Whiteboard Adding refers to a viral video of model Dayane Rivas adding up a sum while competing in the Guatemalan television show "Combate" in May 2016. In the video, Rivas answered the math problem 248 plus 208 incorrectly and was mocked for her answer on Twitter. A screenshot of the video has since been used as a reaction image for situations that call for incorrect math.

Origin

On May 21st, 2016, YouTuber Zunzal uploaded the clip of that week's "Combate"^[1] episode with the title "La mujer mas bruta del mundo" which received over 2.5 million views and 10,000 likes in four years.

Spread

On May 25th, Twitter user @sharonpinto26^[2], posted an image of a woman as a whiteboard writing "never" with the caption, "Combate: Dayane Rivas has otra suma Dayane Rivas:" (shown below, left). On December 6th, 2019, Redditor xx420mcyoloswag posted a screenshot of the clip to r/fakehistoryporn^[3] with the caption, "Martin Shkreli Calculates the cost of a new drug (2015)" (shown below, right). The post garnered over 38,400 points (95% upvoted) in three months.

On February 25th, 2020, Redditor FreskyFlowers posted the same screenshot to r/historymemes^[4] with the caption, "Ronald Reagan Calculating how many nuclear bombs the US needs to defeat the USSR" (shown below). The post gained over 10,100 points (99% upvoted) in three weeks.
