On September 30th, 2020, Great Big Story announced it was ending the channel (shown below).

In a farewell message posted to Facebook,[4] the channel did not give a reason for why it was closing but thanked its viewers and subjects.

A GREAT BIG STORY It's been a hard few days. After five incredible years, we're sad to say that we're closing the doors of Great Big Story. Those five years have been nothing short of joyous. We've crawled into bear dens and swam with sharks. We've climbed mountains and sailed around the world. We've heard stories of unbelievable strength and resilience and we've come to love humans and humanity more than we ever thought possible. To our subjects, thank you for letting us tell your stories, it was a privilege. To our audience, we hope we made you proud. This is the close of one chapter, but this isn't goodbye. More than anything, we hope that we sparked your inner storyteller and made you feel a little bit closer to your neighbors all around the world. We all have a Great Big Story, now go tell yours. With love, The Great Big Story team
