He Looks So Smol Here,, Angry Bby🥺💝 is most commonly known as the caption on a viral tweet sharing several images of Peter Griffin from Family Guy pouting and looking upset, implying he looks cute when angry. The phrase started to see use as a copypasta in association with other images of angry-looking characters as a screenshot of the original tweet spread across social media in late 2020 and throughout 2021.

Origin

On October 13th, 2020, now-suspended Twitter user @glowbatz tweeted three images of Peter Griffin pouting captioned "He looks so smol sere,, angry bby🥺💝" gaining an unknown number of likes and retweets before the suspension (shown below). In mid-2021 a screenshot of the tweet began going around Instagram,^[1] notably shared by inhalemybees on May 29th, 2021, gaining over 13,000 likes in seven months (shown below).

Spread

In late 2020, Twitter users began copy-pasting the exact phrase in tweets with other images, often of angry-looking characters or large items to ironically call them cute, although the trend did not go significantly viral. For example, on October 18th, 2020, Twitter^[2] user @oceanratVEVO tweeted replacing Peter Griffin with an image of a Polybius machine (shown below).

On October 5th, Instagram^[3] page @salad.snake posted a version of the meme using images of Tony Soprano from The Sopranos, gaining over 33,800 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On October 13th, Redditor garrywinthorpegae posted a version with Walter White from Breaking Bad to /r/okbuddychicanery,^[4] gaining over 400 upvotes in a week (shown below, right).
