About
Hell Be Fine is a meme that originated from the mu board on 4chan. It is said ironically to imply the likelihood of someone dying, with "hell" being a misspelling of the contraction "he'll".
Origin
On December 28, 2015, a post was made on 4chan's /mu/ board featuring a quote glorifying the lifestyle of Motörhead frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, who was well known for his hard-living lifestyle, which included chain-smoking and regular consumption of alcohol and amphetamines. An anonymous poster replied with the greentext ">Why do people want to live longer?" Another anon replied, "It's worked for him." An anon replied, ">70 years old >Still plays shows I think hell be fine". Hours later it was reported that Lemmy had died. The thread was stickied and received over 6,000 replies. The "hell be fine" post received over 2000 replies.[1]
Spread
The meme is popular on /mu/ and is also frequently posted on other boards.
