About

I Don't Care Who the IRS Sends, I Am Not Paying Taxes is a line said by the Dan vs. character Dan upon meeting his supermodel neighbor for the first time. Online, the line spawned a snowclone meme format and has been used as a reaction for images and videos of attractive people.

Origin

On January 1st, 2011, "The Wolf-Man," episode two of season one of the animated television series Dan Vs., premiered in the United States.[1] In the opening part of the episode, the main character Dan is visited by a supermodel, who introduces herself as Dan's new neighbor, to which Dan replies that he will not pay taxes no matter who the IRS sends (scene shown below).

- Hi, Dan! I just moved in next door! I'm a supermodel!
- I don't care who the IRS sends, I'm not paying taxes.

On December 2nd, 2019, iFunny[2] user Whymeofallpeople uploaded a looped video of Dan delivering the line to the app, where it gained over 5,000 smiles in four years (shown below).

Spread

On April 12th, 2021, TikTok[3] user loghan.bohlander uploaded the scene, with the video gaining over 5.9 million views and one million likes in two years. The soundbite achieved viral popularity as a TikTok trend in June 2021; for example, on June 12th, 2021, TikTok[4] user @helloshiang posted a video that gained over 14.2 million views and 3.7 million likes in two years. On June 21st, 2021, YouTube[5] channel TikTok Save posted a compilation of TikTok memes using the soundbite (shown below).

Starting in May 2021, memes based on the scene were posted on iFunny[6] and Reddit,[7] with the format achieving significant popularity as a phrasal template in late September 2022. For example, on September 29th, 2022, iFunny[8] user basicallyimlazy posted a meme that gained over 5,100 smiles in eight months (shown below, left). Also that day, iFunny[9] user hrrrnghsoup posted a version that gained over 4,200 smiles (shown below, right).
