The original video shows a screen recording of an Instagram message interaction where a person asks "where you get that from??" in reference to a photo of some food, to which the person who posted the photo responds with three voice messages attempting to gatekeep the source of his meal. While the original post was made on a since-deleted Instagram account by @damndomeatsass in early 2021, the copypasta went viral again in January 2023.

The original creator of the "I don't even think you really hungry like that" is the creator known by the Instagram handle @damndomeatsass.^[7] Another April 2021 "food gatekeeping" video made by the creator can be accessed via Internet Archive.^[8]

The video was likely posted in early 2021, however, the account has since been deleted. The earliest known repost of the meme can be traced to a post made on April 27th, 2021 by Instagram^[1] page dank_meme5, where it gathered over 48,000 views in three years (seen below),
