Indosiar Main Character Profession Parodies refers to a series of videos in which people parody one of the main characters' professions on Indosiar's TV series "Pintu Berkah."

Origin

On August 29th, 2022, the Indosiar TV series "Pintu Berkah" episode titled Pekerja Fotokopi Cerdas yang Menerima Beasiswa (Eng. The Smart Photocopy Service Worker Who Received a Scholarship) premiered in Indonesia.^[1] In the episode, the main character starts her new job as a traveling photocopy and print service shop, using a cart and bringing her equipment around her neighborhood (scene shown below).

The episode mimics a unique real-life profession, as shown in a November 14th, 2022 TikTok^[6] user @massbib1e who uploaded a video about he found a man doing a similar job at Depok, West Java, Indonesia. The video received more than 979,000 views (shown below).

Starting in June of 2023, people started parodying the series by applying the same concept in the show to other professions and services. For example, on June 15th, 2023, Facebook^[2] user Muxlis uploaded an edit of a man traveling with a computer set with a sign saying "jasa open commission keliling" (Eng. Open commission service). The post received 373 reactions and 578 shares in two weeks (shown below, left). On June 25th, 2023, Facebook^[3] user NO EL uploaded a photo of himself traveling with ready-to-rent cosplay sets with a sign saying "rental costum keliling". The post received 278 reactions and 322 shares (shown below, right).

On June 23rd, 2023, TikTok^[4] user @bang_ridho2 uploaded a skit of himself becoming a guy who gets paid for praying for people with a sign saying "jasa doa keliling". The video received more than 5 million views in four days (shown below, left). On June 25th, 2023, TikTok^[5] user @hosik_komis uploaded a skit about letting people "kocok" (Indonesian slang for "masturbate") using his service with a sign saying "jasa kocok keliling", although, in the end, he just offers a massage. The video received more than 26.1 million views in two days (shown below, right).
