I've Never Seen a Girl Look Good in These is a series of bait posts on Twitter in which a user expresses doubt that a person would look good wearing a certain outfit or performing a certain action, with the pure intention of baiting other users into sharing photographs and videos of themselves doing exactly that. The posts, which employ reverse psychology similar to Don't Google memes, are often followed by a secondary tweet reading, "Now we wait."

Origin

On June 10th, 2021, Twitter^[1] user @tonylikesmilfs posted the earliest discovered tweet baiting others into sharing photographs of themselves in clothes through reverse psychology. The post reads, "I just realized I've never seen a girl look good in these," and has photographs of "forbidden pants" and bike shorts attached (shown below). The tweet gained over 780 retweets and 17,700 likes in two years, with multiple female users replying^[2][3] with photographs of themselves wearing the clothing. Deleted examples of this trend may have existed prior.

Spread

The format started gaining virality on Twitter^[4] in June 2022. For example, on June 23rd, 2022, Twitter^[5] user @didironomy made a tweet that gained over 1,500 retweets and 25,600 likes in nine months (shown below, left). On October 21st, Twitter^[6] user @HoesLuvTravis made a tweet that received over 1,800 retweets and 41,000 likes in five months (shown below, right). Both tweets successfully baited users to share the respective imagery.

The tweets have often been followed by a secondary tweet used to indicate that the first tweet is indeed bait (examples shown below, left and right).

The format achieved widespread virality in March 2023, inspiring parodies and memes about its overuse. For example, on March 16th, 2023, Twitter^[7] user @upblissed posted Goku's outfit, writing, "I’ve literally never seen a girl look good in this." The tweet gained over 1,800 retweets and 50,700 likes in one day (shown below, left). Also that day, Twitter^[8] user @chickensamwish made a similar post with Peter Griffin's outfit that garnered over 250 retweets and 7,900 likes in one day (shown below, right).
