John Roblox Laugh refers to a clip of Brazilian streamer Defi, who resembles Roblox streamer John Roblox, laughing. The clip has been used in multiple reaction videos on social media.

Origin

On November 12th, 2020, YouTube[1] user Defi uploaded a livestream titled "STOP PRETENDING YOU UNDERSTAND RAP ANIME" (roughly translated). In the video, he saw several videos about anime. At the 54:33 mark, he noticed one reaction video about Vinland Saga and started laughing. The video received more than 500,000 views in three years (shown below, left). On June 2nd, 2021, YouTube[2] user vrcrew uploaded a clip of Defi's laughing. In the description, they wrote "i think he's john roblox," marking the first time people mistook Defi for the Roblox streamer. The video received more than 6.9 million views in two years (shown below, right).

The clip of Defi's laughing started to gain popularity in the 2020s, furthering the misconception that he was John Roblox. For example on October 1st, 2021, YouTube[3] user Hshehehe Hehwhe uploaded a sped-up edit of Defi's laughing that received more than 128,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On June 12th, 2021, YouTube[4] user Abandoned Channel uploaded an edit of Defi's clip by using stock images and GIFs. The video received more than 291,000 views in two years (shown below, right).

On July 21st, 2021, YouTube[5] user BhramaM uploaded a clip with subtitles that received more than 888,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On August 3rd, 2021, YouTube[6] user egosirius uploaded a similar version with a more accurate subtitle. The video received more than 268,000 views in two years (shown below, right).
