I remember being in Army JROTC in High school

Sergeant Davis was our teacher. Guy was on the older side. Served in the latter end of Vietnam and as a Drill Sergeant shortly afterwards. The guy had a Boston accent so thick, you could probably smell the chowder from the auditorium. He was short, wiry, grey haired, and perhaps the only white guy in the school's faculty. Liberty High School was almost entirely black and Puerto Rican, and so there was a lot of opportunity for racial humor.

One time, after winning "Best Marching Unit" in the local Christmas Parade (again), we were gonna head to Daytona to see a NASCAR race, and Sergeant Davis is up there telling us about it.

"Alright, so we'll be headed up to Daytona this Satta-day. Make sure you'se at the bus loop by 0600. We'll have breakfast at the Cracker Barrel up on I-4".

Class mumbles indistinctly

"Yeah. You'se heard me right. Cracker Barrel. I know all a yous is used to your madre's rice and beans but on Satta-day…. you're gonna have WHITE PEOPLE FOOD!"
