Jubi Slide / Jubislide

The Jubi Slide also spelled Jubislide is a dance move created by dancer and TikToker @jubi2fye in early 2022 that makes it appear as if the dancer is smoothly sliding across the ground sideways, somewhat resembling a sideways moonwalk. The dance was popularized on TikTok around March 2022 for the "Aye Bay Bay" dance challenge and was further popularized in late 2023 with a similar dance challenge set to the song "A Pimp Named Slickback" by LAKIM.

Origin

On February 13th, 2022, TikToker^[1] and dancer @jubi2fye posted a video set to the song "Aye Bay Bay" by Jersey Anniversary where he performs a dance move somewhat resembling a sideways moonwalk where he appears to slide across the floor while dancing, garnering over 758,000 likes in a year (shown below, left). He continued to do the dance regularly, for example, in a March 17th video to TikTok^[2] that gained over 627,000 likes in a year (shown below, right).

"Aye Bay Bay" Slide Challenge

The video sparked a trend throughout March 2022 referred to as the "Aye Bay Bay" Slide Challenge, where participants attempted to do the same dance in various settings using the same original TikTok^[3] sound. On March 31st, YouTuber^[4]
TikTok Session posted a compilation of videos participating in the trend, garnering over a million views in a year (shown below).

"A Pimp Named Slickback" Challenge

As early as June 2023, TikTokers began to perform the same dance move under an original sound for the song "A Pimp Named Slickback" by LAKIM. For example, on June 25th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @kiingjojo.inc posted a video doing the dance that gained over 2.7 million likes in four months (shown below, left). On October 10th, TikToker^[6] @dance_llove posted a video doing the dance, garnering over 65 million views in nine days (shown below, right).
