The Laughing Baby video (link) is a viral video from Norway featuring a baby laughing at various funny noises being made by his father off-camera. Currently standing as the 11th most-viewed video on YouTube with 163,453,764 views as of 28 February 2011, it has become a landmark video of popular culture – appearing not only in South Park, but even such an august personality as Queen Elizabeth II having seen – and laughed – at it during a visit to Google's UK Headquarters. (Daily Mail article)
While the Laughing Baby is not the only video of laughing babies on the internet – indeed, videos of babies laughing at ripping paper are becoming a meme on their own – it is still the most-viewed, and most widely-distributed laughing baby video on the 'Tubes.
The comments posted on the video have themselves earned a certain kind of criticism and infamy, with this Slate article (link) breaking down the various categories of comments as well as commenting on its popularity.
