About

Let's Go Champ is the catchphrase of professional boxer and trainer Shannon Briggs. After repeating the phrase in many of his Instagram stories, online gaming streamers began using the phrase during streams. It also grew in popularity when Briggs used the phrase while training Logan Paul for his boxing matches with streamer KSI.

Origin

"Let's Go Champ" was popularized by boxer Shannon Briggs, who used the phrase in public appearances and on his Instagram stories in the mid 2010s. On October 1st, 2015, YouTuber FE-Reborn posted a compilation of clips from Briggs' Instagram stories, including him saying "Let's Go Champ!"

Spread

The phrase was picked up by gaming streamers after Briggs popularized it. Overwatch streamer Reaver helped popularize the phrase by making it his username and repeating it in his videos (shown below).

The phrase grew more popular ahead of Logan Paul's fights with KSI, as Briggs was Paul's trainer and was seen saying the phrase in videos ahead of both fights (examples shown below).

This in turn led to parodies and compilation videos of Briggs saying the phrase. For example, user WALTER J.R. posted a compilation on June 21st, 2018 (shown below, left). User QendyKS posted a meme compilation on September 28th, 2019 that gained over 27,000 views (shown below, right).
