Mario Throwing a Brick refers to an edited image of an artwork of Mario for the game Mario Superstar Baseball[2] in which Mario throws a brick at the viewer. The image gained viral spread on X / Twitter in Late 2024.
Origin
The image of Mario throwing a brick originally came from an artwork[1] for the game Mario Superstar Baseball wich was released in Japan on Nintendo Gamecube on July 21th, 2005. The image featuring Mario throwing a Red Fireball to the viewer (shown below).
On October 14, 2023, X[3] user @TheSillySnail posted a edited version of the image featuring Mario throwing a brick instead of a Red Fireball to the viewer. The post gathered over 236 reposts and 1,000 likes in one year (shown below).

Later on November 24th, 2023, YouTuber [4] Trafficallity posted a animation showing Mario throwing a brick to the viewer. The video, titled "Mario throws a brick at you" gathered over 59,000 views in eleven months (shown below).
On March 28, 2024, Redditor [5] AndrewTRM posted the image adding the Blur effect to the brick. The post received 45 upvotes in eight months (shown below).
