Marxist Squidward parodies a season 2 episode of "Spongebob Squarepants," entitled "Squid On Strike." In the episode, Squidward inspires Spongebob to go on strike against capitalist pig Mr. Krabs in order to demand higher wages and overall better working conditions. In late 2012, the extensive Socialist community on Tumblr began taking stills from the episode, often featuring Squidward yelling into a megaphone, and typing Marxist slogans on the still, implying Squidward is a Marxist activist.
