This meme has been rising in popularity in early May 2021, although the first known rendition of this meme was a version of Taylor Swift's "My Tears Ricochet" with Taylor's "ME!-HEE-HEE" lyric from her other song "ME! (ft. Panic at the Disco)" dubbed over it when Taylor is supposed to say "me" uploaded by 'bee' on Sept 20, 2020 with a caption giving credit to @TaylenaAlwyn on twitter:

The Video also featured an edit using the FaceApp where a picture of Taylor is edited to appear smiling suddenly as the song gets to where she would sing "me" but sings "ME!-HEE-HEE!" instead.

it seems this was a lighthearted play on lyrics by Taylor's beloved swifties, but soon…

• This was the only known video of its kind (at least on youtube) for until about five months later, another video titled "me hee hee but its out of place" was uploaded by 'swiftiedelta' on Feb 15, 2021:

• although it is unknown if this influenced the trend as it differs from the September 2020 video format, which is the most popular format of this meme.

• The next latest similar rendition of the ME!-HEE-HEE Meme appeared on March 10, 2021 uploaded by the fan account 'taylors version' , with an edit of Taylor's song Marjorie.

• Fan Account ICON reuploaded the identical Sept 2020 version of the my tears ricochet meme audio, except with a picture of Dua Lipa on April 6, 2021.

• It would be another month before the use of the "ME!-HEE-HEE" line and FaceApp edit over Taylor Swift's other songs and images started appearing exponentially, and around early May 2021, started to be used in various other Artist's songs like Dua lipa, Ariana Grande, Conan Gray, Olivia Rodrigo, BlackPink, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish and more in just a matter of days.

• It may have been when the youtube fan account ICON uploaded a rendition of the meme using Dua Lipa' s own song 'Break My Heart' paired with her image on May 1, 2021; the first time that the meme was re-formatted on both a song and artist image other than Taylor's that sparked the skyrocketing of this meme, surpassing the swifties. That video has over 100,000 views.

• As of May 5, 2021, there are over 200 videos of various Artists' songs featured in a playlist assembled by Pheobus Kotsakis, where "ME!-HEE-HEE!" is dubbed over where the original artist is supposed to say "me."

• No matter what the song is, if it has "me" in it, "ME!-HEE-HEE"-ers will find it, even the "ME!" video itself.

• an especially large amount of dubbed Selena Gomez videos are made by selenation, with even a video making a lighthearted remark on how fans are wondering why selenation cant stop making these videos.
