Precious was first released on September 17th 2008 as a single but would later be released on the album Beautiful in 2009. Beautiful was the sixth full-length studio album by MEG, released by Universal J on May 27, 2009 in Japan It was released in two formats: as a CD-only version and a limited edition CD+DVD version.

On October 11th 2008 Youtube user linolada225 uploaded the song to their Youtube channel and the song had received almost 12 thousand views In the years that followed other Youtube users such as ISOVIN would upload copies of the song in 2011 and forward. A few years later after a few videos of the song were uploaded to Youtube the music video for the song had ended up on multiple different video websites including Vimeo and Dailymotion fans of Meg, began creating video mashups and remixing the song around as early as 2010 the two earliest examples of this are a video Zombiebeatz2000 uploaded on April 3rd 2010 where she attempts to do the cat dance from the music video of the song and June 3rd 2010 where Youtube user pochikoba1 uploaded a short animation where anime girls dance to the song.
