About

My Outfit Challenge is a series of TikTok parody videos in which people layout their clothes on the bed. They then mime shooting a gun which triggers a change in view to the user wearing the outfit in sync with the Remix of Lillianma Wilde's song "Grind Me Down."

Origin

In January of 2019, TikTok user Leezy uploaded the first example of the My Outfit Challenge. In the clip the user's outfit is EDM DJ Marshmello. The clip has gotten 245,400 likes and 3,500 shares in a month. The sound clip "leezy-#myoutfit has been used in 703,800 videos within a month.[1]



On August 10th, 2017, xKito Music uploaded the Jawster Remix of Lillianna Wilde's "Grind Me Down" to YouTube which has received six millions views and 102,000 likes within two years (shown below).



Spread

On February 1st, 2019, My Outfit Challenge compilation videos were uploaded. TiK ToK Point uploaded the first video which gained 744 in a week (shown below, left). YouTuber GB PAK uploaded the second which accumulated 112 views (shown below, right).



On February 8th, 2019, YouTuber ReallyGotIt uploaded the most popular compilation video with 1,600 views in a few days (shown below).



Ironic/Creative Variations

Many TikTok users decided to parody the challenge by incorporating their pets, their sewing or drawing projects, or version that parody the vain aspect of the #myoutfit challenge (shown below).
