Name Something You Can Say During Dinner and During Sex refers to a social game in which people give a prompt asking for a double entendre that can apply during a specific scenario and during sex. While early iterations of the game have appeared online for years, the game grew more popular in December of 2019 as people offered more absurd and topical prompts.

Origin

While the game has seen various iterations, it first began seeing relative popularity in the summer of 2017. On July 2nd, 2017, Twitter user @DanielleMuscato^[1] tweeted the prompt, gaining over 150 retweets and 450 likes (shown below).

The following day, the same prompt appeared in an IGN forum.^[2] On July 4th, 2017, Buzzfeed^[3] posted an article featuring responses to the prompt "Phrases You Can Use During Sex And At A Funeral."

Spread

The game appeared sporadically on social media over the course of the following two years. On April 8th, 2018, Facebook page Mansion posted the "family dinner" prompt, gaining over 4,900 reactions and 9,600 shares.^[5] In December of 2018, The Poke^[4] posted a list of "things you can say both during sex and at a job interview."

In December of 2019, the game grew popular on Twitter after it was paired with a picture of a couple being intimate. The first of these tweets was posted by @HoodieJudge99,^[6] who tweeted "Name something you can say during a baseball game and sex," gaining over 3,300 responses, 190 retweets, and 1,600 likes (shown below, left). One of the top responses, tweeted by @RobDavi28351552, read "He really tore up the minors" (shown below, right).

Over the following few days, multiple iterations appeared with increasing absurdity. Some popular examples include a tweet by @SortaBad that read, "name something you can say while at Chuck E. Cheese’s and during sex," gaining over 340 retweets and 3,700 likes (shown below, left) and a tweet by @AdamLanceGarcia that read, "Name something you can say during STAR WARS and sex," gaining over 330 retweets and 2,300 likes (shown below, right).
