About
Ninja Twerking refers to fake footage of Mixer streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins twerking while being naked. In late 2018, remixes featuring the video gained popularity on Instagram.
Origin
On December 26th, 2018, Instagram[1] user rainslurp posted a remix based on a now-deleted recording of Instagram user Londonyellow twerking. The remix gained over 22,200 views in nine days.
On the same day, WIRED posted a video titled "Ninja Answers the Web's Most Searched Questions" to YouTube. In the video, Ninja answers a number of questions taken from most popular web searches related to the streamer.
Spread
On December 29th, 2018, rainslurp[2] posted two more remixes, now combining Londonyellow's twerk video with the WIRED interview footage. The post gained over 1,400 likes within a week.
On December 30th, 2018, Londonyellow[3] reposted the edit made by rainslurp. The video has since been reuploaded by numerous YouTube and Instagram accounts. On January 2nd, 2019, Londonyellow[4] reacted to his dance recording going viral in an Instagram post.
More popular edits of the footage has since been posted by several Instagram accounts, including notable versions by swanton.mp4[5] and NovaXeno[6].
WIRED Interview Edits
In late December 2018, along with Ninja Twerking remixes, edits of the WIRED interview also began to spread. On December 26th, YouTuber Spirit uploaded an edit of the interview, which gained over 13,000 views within 9 days. On December 30th, 2018, YouTuber FLDY posted a YTP-style edit of the interview. The video received over 15,000 views in 6 days.
