Origin

Officer Rivieri was a police officer in Baltimore Maryland. In February of 2008, a video surfaced of him shouting at, pushing, shoving, and threatening a 14-year-old boy who was riding a skateboard in Baltimore's Inner Harbor area. Riding a skateboard isn't allowed in that area, and Officer Rivieri decided to do his duty. When the boy apparently didn't hear him, he snapped. The video then received regional news coverage. As of January 2010, the video has received 3.7 million views.

Among his notable lines in the video is "I'm not man, I'm not dude! I'm Officer Rivieri!" This is the phrase that brought about the most derivatives.

This video led his department to suspend him with full pay. However, this was not the only occasion of Officer Rivieri snapping on other people. Another video surfaced in February 2008, submitted by an art student who felt that Officer Rivieri overstepped his bounds again. He was doing an experiment to see people's reactions to a moving box with a remote control car underneath. Officer Rivieri gets out of his car, kicks the box off the car and then kicks the car, and then tells the student to leave.

After this, in April 2008, Officer Rivieri had his officer privileges suspended and he was assigned to administrative duties.

Derivatives

It was then that multiple derivatives came into existence. Demotivational posters and articles of clothing followed, as well as some Youtube videos.
