Among Us Twerk or Among Us Dumpy is a viral GIF of a yellow crewmate from Among Us twerking. The GIF appeared in multiple ironic Among Us shitposts and has been used to create mosaic images, also inspiring other GIFs and videos of Among Us crewmates twerking.

On September 21st, 2020, Twitter[1] user VAL (@ScreechyAurora) posted a short GIF of the yellow crewmate from the 2018 video game Among Us twerking. The post (shown below) received over 920 retweets and 3,100 likes in nine months.

The GIF, posted on DeviantArt by the same artist,[13][15] is based on a scene from the 2006 animated film Open Season in which character Boog performs the move towards the same camera angle (shown below, left).

ScreechyAurora also uploaded a YouTube video with the Among Us crewmates in a rave party which then cuts to the yellow crewmate twerking. Since August 5th, 2021, it has nearly 1,970 views and 440 likes (shown below).[14]

Starting in late October 2020, during the initial period of ironic Among Us shitposting, the GIF gained popularity alongside other Among Us memes such as When the Imposter Is Sus and Among Drip, primarily spread on Discord. On October 28th, 2020, Tenor[2] user Rikkymanny posted a sped-up version of the GIF to Tenor (shown below).

In the following months, multiple edits of the GIF, as well as other animated GIFs of Among Us crewmates twerking based on YouTube videos inspired by the original GIF, were posted by users on Tenor,[3] primarily with the purpose of further use on Discord (examples shown below).

In late 2020 and 2021, the GIF appeared in multiple Among Us shitposts, including YouTube videos. For example, on December 27th, 2020, YouTuber[4] My name Limofi posted a video in which the GIF was set to "Money Machine" by 100 gecs, with the video gaining over 212,000 views in five months (shown below, left).

Following the viral spread of the GIF, it gained limited popularity as a source material for redraws. For example, on April 17th, 2021, Redditor[5] NeonVanta posted a The Binding of Isaac redraw of the GIF that gained over 5,600 upvotes in a month (shown below). On June 10th, 2021, VTuber Lyn Mametchi tweeted[6] a redraw that gained over 74 retweets and 1,000 likes, later posting an updated version (shown below, right).

Among Us Twerk Mosaic Generator

On May 13th, 2021, Twitter[7] user @mitaknight_ made an Among Us Twerk Tuesday post that included a 6 by 12 grid of Among Us crewmates twerking (shown below). The post received over 2,000 retweets and 7,500 likes, with Twitter[8] user @pixer415 commenting, "You know what? I should actually make a generator that converts any flag to twerking amogus."

On May 19th, 2021, @pixer415 tweeted[9] that they created the generator, posting a compilation video of flags and pixel images converted to Among Us Twerk mosaics (shown below).

On May 26th, Twitter users @pixer415 and @That1Calculator released[10][11][12] Among Us Dumpy GIF Maker Java program and Discord bot able to automatically generate Among Us Twerk mosaic images.
