About
Celeste Barber is an Australian standup comedian, who additionally is also a trained actor, and writer. Her fame rose rapidly when her long-running series called #CelesteChallengeAccepted[1] (side-by-side photos of herself (and sometimes her husband) mimicking the bizarre images of celebrities and high fashion models) went viral.
History
Celeste has been part of the entertainment industry for over a decade. Including, Burke and Wills[2], that was a finalist at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival[3], paramedic Bree Matthews on “All Saints”[4], a sketch writer/performer on “The Matty Johns Show”[5]. Her own SMH web series “Office Correctness”[4] and was co-writer and performer for ABC’s ‘Late Night Angel Weenie Babies’[4]. In 2015 she was a MICF Raw Comedy state finalist and sold out shows for both the Sydney Comedy and Fringe Festivals.
Online History
#CelesteChallengeAccepted[1] started in January of 2015. Her photos began to gain traction on the internet due to her sense of humor of making fun of the dramatic poses that models, actors, and influencers often strike in advertisements and social media posts. Celeste recreated these poses using her own comical spin sparking her internet fame. As of December 2018, she currently holds 5.1 Million followers on Instagram[6], along with her 1.2 Million Facebook[7] followers.
