Gonnafly / Gonnafag is a meme started in late 2013, on the videogame forum on funnjunk.com. The meme was first started when user gonnafly posted a picture of himself in a IRL thread. This picture was passed round and posted a few more times.
On 02/07/2014 the user account gonnafag was created, it gained much popularity and was considered highly among the users on the board.

Mostly the irl picture of gonnafly was posted as anonymous with text either saying "gonnafag" or something about the character Amy Rose. This was considered shitpost by most users of the board as it was "not vidya related"

Gonnafag posted the IRL picture of gonnafly as well as photoshopped versions of it. Most notably the picture where gonnaflys face is over Amy Roses body.

Gonnafly was once one of the most popular users on the board, used Amy Rose from sonic as a mascot. For a few months in 2014 he became a moderator on the board and had an orange username.

The gonnafag meme has lost momentum in recent weeks and may never return to its former glory.
