About

Jesús Manrique Gonzalez,^[1] mostly known as "MC Dinero", is a mexican rapper who became famous all around the Spanish-speaking side of the internet after his video "Rap fail – rap del dinero" was uploaded to YouTube on November 27th, 2014.^[2]

Online History

Jesús Manrique became popular after Youtube user "victor hugo vazquez ruiz"^[7] uploaded a video named "Rap Fail – rap del dinero" (Shown below) which gained over 9,000,000 views as of October 2015.

After the original video started gaining popularity, Youtuber El Rincon de Giorgio made a parody review about it^[3] highlighting the bizarre lyrics and overall sillyness (Shown below, left), as of October 2015 it has gathered over 4,000,000 views. On January 10th, 2015 Youtube user Jaime Ulises Diaz Hernandez uploaded a Turn Down for What version (Shown below, right) which gained over 1,000,000 views as of October 2015.

Reputation

Due to the constant use of the word "dinero" (money) in the original video, he was given the nickname of MC Dinero. and has adopted it himself.^[1] During the following months he uploaded new rap videos to YouTube, and made his first live performance on February 22nd, 2015 ^[4], making an appearance on the Mexican MTV Millennial Awards, June 10th, 2015, winning the "viral pump" award.^[5]

Death hoax

On June 1st, 2015, a rumor about his death surfaced and were spread on the Internet, being the cause of said death cerebral myiasis. MC Dinero denied said rumor in an interview for the Hip-Hop website Urban Attack on June 7th, 2015^[6].
