About

Ngaly3622 also known as the Dancing Chinese Guy or Lý Nga is a Vietnamese TikToker and dance teacher who posts videos where he performs choreographed dances in public with crowds of people, often to the song "Ma Baker" by Boney M. He posted his first dance video in October 2021 and went viral on TikTok in June 2022 as users made jokes about seeing him on their For You Pages. Lori, a frequent commenter on his videos, also became the subject of memes for her consistent simping comments on his uploads.

History

On August 31st, 2021, TikToker^[1] @Ngaly3622 uploaded his first video, a clip of a Vietnamese woman looking into the camera and making a cat paw motion, gaining over 4,000 views in 10 months. Between then and October 24th, he continued to upload vlog-style videos of other people and videos of the same woman. Numerous uploads show a woman working laborious jobs in a field (example shown below, left) and later videos show her dancing (example shown below, right).

On October 24th, the TikToker^[2] posted a video of a long-haired Vietnamese man, presumably Lý Nga, dancing with a group of people in a city street, gaining over 55,000 views in eight months (shown below). This is the first video of Nga dancing. A number of the video's comments refer to him as a dance teacher. He continued to post dancing videos over the following months, also posting vlog-style content occasionally.

Use Of "Ma Baker" By Boney M.

Some of Nga's most popular dance videos use an original sound for the song "Ma Baker" by Boney M. On March 3rd, 2022, he posted a video to TikTok^[3] dancing over the song, gaining over 2 million views in three months (shown below, left). On March 7th, another upload to TikTok^[4] using the sound gained over 13 million views in three months (shown below, right).

On April 23rd, Nga uploaded a dance video to TikTok^[5] using the sound that gained over 13.4 million views in two months (shown below).

In May throughout June 2022, TikTokers began making videos about Nga using the song, referencing how frequently he uses the sound and how the TikTok algorithm pushes his videos. On May 11th, TikToker^[6] @generacionx posted a video using a version of the I Bet He's Thinking About Other Women meme about Nga, gaining over 500,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On June 10th, TikToker^[7] @lifebyarjen posted a video where he dances under the caption, "Am I the only one that keeps getting this Chinese dancing guy all over his FYP?" gaining over 1.3 million views in six days (shown below, right).

Around April 2022, TikToker @lorimattson338 began commenting on Nga's posts showing love for him and his dancing in poorly worded comments. In an April 13th upload,^[8] she writes, "beautiful gorgeoushunk of mam. very sweet and wonderful man good with children. love you forever." On an April 23rd upload^[9] she writes, "beautiful baby. my gorgeous special man. you look fantastic. Best baby ever. love you forever" (shown below). On an April 29th upload,^[10] she writes, "my beautiful precious baby. WOW. A HUNK OF BURNING LOVE.YOWSA. . YEAH MAN. LOVE YOU FOREVER."

As Nga became more popular throughout 2022, TikTokers took notice of her comments, using them as a copypasta or creating original comments mimicking the style. Another running joke is to write "waiting for the Lori comments" or "here before Lori comments" if you're early to the video (examples shown below).
