Nicola Sturgeon is a Scottish politician who was elected as the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) and the fifth First Minister of Scotland in November 2014 in the aftermath of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum after the resignation of Alex Salmond. Nicola Sturgeon served as First Minister until her resignation in 2023.
