About

Ruaridoll is a caucasian, German girl who is gradually gaining popularity on YouTube making videos of herself dancing and singing badly in Japanese. It is apparent that she is obsessed with Japanese culture, and constantly dresses up and sings Japanese songs, or japanese versions of popular english songs. She also occasionally posts process videos of fanart from her DeviantArt, and also some videos where she does absolutely nothing, reminiscent of popular YouTuber Magibon.

Origin

Ruaridoll uploaded her first video on March 29, 2010 as a response to viral song, Cuppycake Gumdrops AKA The Cuppycake Song.

Ruaridoll's anime-like face and childish grimace draws in wandering YouTubers, who are then punished with her unexpected behavior and shrill monotone singing. Most of her chance viewers did not respond to her videos lightly, while some of them enjoyed it and became part of her small fanbase.

YouTube Life

Even though all of Ruaridoll's videos have significant amounts of hate comments, she continued to post a video every week, like she promised. This continued for 5 months, until October 2010, when she had to be rehabilitated due to her bulimia.

Although it was falsely rumored on YouTube that she had died, almost a year later, on October 14th 2011, Ruaridoll announced, on her Facebook page, that she had been rehabilitated, and that she will continue posting videos.

Criticism

Ruaridoll has received so much criticism that she disabled ratings for all her YouTube videos, and put a disclaimer to "not post opinions" about her on Deviantart. However, her hatebase remains strong- diligent enough to hate, even on her GaiaOnline profile.

Trolling

Due to the bizarre nature of her videos, many people believe that Ruaridoll is an internet troll, and is, in fact, behaving so to upset people and attract attention. However, the elaboration and persistence of her character over many websites suggests otherwise. Ruaridoll is an authentic "weaboo" and posts videos, sincerely hoping that they would be enjoyed.

Singing

Ruaridoll is renown for her distasteful monotone singing and obnoxious anime-esque voice. This voice is Ruriadol's most identifying feature and can be described as an overreaching attempt at a cute japanese child's voice like so:

This is one of Ruaridoll's more obnoxious videos, showcasing her unusual singing ability:

Anorexia

Most viewers were shocked by Ruaridoll's unhealthily lean figure and many people concluded that she was anorexic- in an attempt to be thin like an anime character. She was, in fact, bulimic and was sent to rehabilitation for approximately a year.

Relation to Magibon

One of the more farfetched theories of Ruaridoll's origins includes her being related to Magibon, and possibly being her sister. This idea is derived from the fact that many of Ruaridoll's videos imitate Magibon's signature style of doing nothing, but staring into the camera. Due to their similar appearance, and obsession with Japanese culture- many unfamiliar viewers confuse Magibon and Ruaridoll, or propose that they are related.

This ridiculous proposal, however, is highly unlikely, as Magibon is from Florida, USA, while Ruaridoll is from Hamburg, Germany.
