History

On June 10th, 2024, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33^[1] was revealed during a State of Play Sony livestream, explaining that the turn-based RPG is inspired by the lavish art and culture of France’s Belle Époque. The trailer^[2] (seen below) amassed over 862,000 views and 26,000 likes in a year.

The game was released on April 24th, 2025, available for PC and the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

As of April 27th, 2025, Clair Obscur received a 92 score on Metacritic^[3] based on 63 critic reviews.

On April 23rd, 2025, IGN^[4] uploaded a review video of the RPG, giving it a 9 out of 10 score, writing that the game's "creative turn-based combat system is fantastic," keeping players engaged while "impressive visual flourishes bring it all together." The video (seen below) received more than 542,000 views and 9,900 likes in four days.
