About
Permission from Sajid refers to a Twitter hashtag which started trending in response to Conservative Party leader contender Sajid Javid stating that he won't grant permission for a second Scottish independence referendum to be held if he was elected Conservative party leader and Prime Minister. Scottish Twitter users started mocking Sijhad by tweeting #PermissionFromSijhad where Scottish Twitter users ask permission from Sijhad Javid for when they want to do something casually. The hashtag #PermissionFromSajid began trending in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland on May 29th, 2019 in response to Sajid's comments and later began trending in the United Kingdom on May 30th, 2019.
Origin
On May 29th, 2019, the Scottish Government published a bill that would set plans out for a second Scottish independence referendum to take place in 2021.[1] In response to this, Conservative MP leadership contender Sajid Javid had ruled out the possibility of a second independence referendum if the Scottish Government requested a Section 30 order which would allow the Scottish Parliament to legally hold a referendum on Scottish independence.

Spread
In response to Sajid Javid's comments, Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish National Party and First Minister of Scotland had hit back on Twitter stating that it would be outrageous for the UK Government to prevent an independence referendum from happening as it would be undemocratic. Nicola Sturgeon's response to Sajid Javid on Twitter received 3,050 retweets and over 11,000 likes in the space of five hours (see below).

SNP MP Mhairi Black jokingly tweeted asking Sajid Javid permission to go to bed with the hashtag "#PermissionFromSajid, which received 365 retweets and 1,800 likes within the first hour (see below, left). Yes.Scot, the campaign to try and get Scottish people to support Scottish independence also tweeted asking permission for them to do a photo response to him (shown below, right).

Scottish newspaper The National also poked fun at #PermissionFromSajid. They poked fun by re-editing their front cover for their next issue stating that readers needed permission from Sajid Javid to purchase the paper (see below).
