About

Roblox LiveLeak Parodies refers to a series of videos reenacting extremely graphic content videos from the platform LiveLeak in-game through the video game Roblox. The trend started as the Roblox Car Crash Videos meme in 2018, spreading to TikTok around mid-2022, in such parody videos, which creators typically add the LiveLeak logo to the clips similar to those found on the site and either recreate well-known viral videos or loosely reference the genre.

Origin

Although it's unclear how the trend originated, one of the earliest posts featuring Roblox gameplay recreating fake car crash incidents was posted by YouTuber[1] LegocrazeZ on April 6th, 2019. The video, titled "Roblox Car Crash Compilation," garnered over 68,000 views and 1,000 likes in four years.

On January 23rd, 2021, YouTuber[2] xgod9808 posted a video of a fake accident paired with LiveLeak's":https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/sites/liveleak logo. The post (shown below) features two people inside a car, abruptly cutting the video when a driver in the opposite direction is about to hit the car. The video garnered over 11,000 views and 209 likes in two years.

Spread

The trend was popularized around June 2022 when people started to recreate real-life graphic content videos from the platform LiveLeak.

For instance, on August 12th, 2022, TikToker[3] @documentingroblox_ recreated the video of a man being shot and killed after killing a cartel member. The video (shown below, left) uses the original audio of the incident with Roblox gameplay to reenact the events. The post garnered roughly 100,000 plays and 5,000 likes in a year. On July 5th, 2023, TikToker[4] robloxliveleak7 posted a reenact of the Grenfell Tower incident[5] in which a person jumped off a burning building (shown below, right). The post garnered over 2.3 million plays and 291,000 likes in three weeks.

I don't meant to be that guy, but don't the TikTok videos shown above actually DO have people recreating and reenacting particular deaths?
(The ones where they're using the audio from the video with Roblox gameplay over them? The "Grenfell Incident"?)

Or are we talking about them recreating "famous/popular" deaths and LiveLeak videos…?
