About

Shakira and Bizarrap Sessions #53 refers to a 2023 song performed by Colombian artist Shakira and Argentinian artist Bizarrap. Since its release in January, the song has been a trending subject on social media, partially because of its content relating to the highly commented-on divorce between Shakira and Gerard Piqué.

Origin

On January 12th, 2023, the bizarrap[1] YouTube channel uploaded the music video for the track, which has Shakira and Bizarrap in a closed studio singing like in a livestream video. The video gained over 44.4 million views and 282,000 comments in just 21 hours (seen below).

Spread

Immediately after the song's release on all streaming platforms, people started to analyze the lyrics and create reaction memes, like in the streamer Ibai's reaction video, posted on YouTube[2] the same day as the song was released, receiving 6 million views and 12,000 comments (seen below).

Twitter user @Dfeliperomero[3] shared a “Lois Griffin”:https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/lois-griffin meme about a phrase from the song, "Women don’t cry anymore, they get rich." The post received 119,000 likes and 26,400 retweets in one day.

After the song was released on January 12th, the meme page on Twitter[4] @nacional_memes declared Shakira’s former partner Gerard Piqué as the new international enemy of Latin America. The post garnered 6,000 likes and 570 retweets in one day.

Casio x Rolex

The phrase in Shakira's song "You traded a Rolex for a Casio" also went viral on social media, which implies that Shakira is a luxury brand, while Piqué's new girlfriend, Clara Chía, is "an economic brand". The Spanish and Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué addressed the music on January 15th, 2023, by showing a Casio watch on his wrist.
