About
Shirt Cut Meme is a series of exploitable fan art memes in which characters are drawn wearing five types of clothing that partially reveal their breasts. Similar to Six Fanarts, the format gained popularity on Twitter in mid-June 2021.
Origin
On June 6th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @druzsea posted a five-panel template that could be used for drawing characters wearing clothing that reveal parts of their breasts. The template, captioned "Shirt Cut Meme," offers panels for "sideboob," "inner sideboob," "boob window," "underboob" and a free space left to the artist's imagination. The post gained over 3,600 retweets and 14,500 likes in one week (post and template shown below, left and right).
Spread
On June 8th, 2021, Twitter[2] user @NumsNam made the first notable submission using the template, with their post gaining over 460 retweets and 3,800 likes (shown below, left).
Starting on June 9th, the format achieved a notable presence on Twitter, with artists posting SWF, NSFW and joke submissions. For example, on June 11th, 2021, Twitter[3] user @Shamenado posted a joke version containing five drawings of a booby bird that gained over 10,300 retweets and 37,700 likes (shown below, right).
