Bob the Minion is a social media gimmick account loosely based on the cartoon character Bob the Minion of the Despicable Me franchise, which imagines Bob as a swearing, drug-dependent and chaotic individual while keeping typical Minion speech mannerisms, such as starting sentences with "Bello!"

History

On August 11th, 2024, the X^[1] / Twitter gimmick account Bob the Minion (@Bobisminion), loosely based on the cartoon character Bob the Minion, was created. On that day, the account made its first post,^[2] quoting an AI-generated image of a roasted Minion being cut like a steak and writing, "what the fuck is ur issue." The post (shown below) received over 14,000 reposts and 141,000 likes in one month.

On August 13th, the account quoted another Minion-based meme, with the quote post (shown below) garnering over 4,200 reposts and 43,000 likes on X^[3] in two months.

In August and September 2024, the account proceeded to make posts as an unhinged version of Bob the Minion, often starting them with "Bello!" the way Minions pronounce "Hello!" in the Despicable Me movies.

For example, on August 27th, 2024, the account made a post in which Bob the Minion admitted to having a cocaine addiction, which received over 12,000 reposts and 95,000 likes on X^[4] in one month (shown below).
