SpongeBob Traveling the World in Drag or SpongeBob With a Purse is a series of Photoshop edits in which SpongeBob SquarePants in drag is edited into a different location typically showcased in a video format with archetypal music.
Origin
On May 31st, 2019, Twitter user @DlXlENORMOUS[1] tweeted their new profile picture (shown below). The picture features SpongeBob in a dress holding a baguette and wearing a beret placed in a French location. The tweet gained 100 likes in three days and inspired the Twitter user to create numerous edits of SpongeBob in drag.
Spread
On May 31st, 2019, @DlXlENORMOUS[2] continued posting edits of SpongeBob in drag by posting a photo comparing two different edits (shown below). The tweet garnered over 470 likes and over 100 retweets in three days.
That same day, @DlXlENORMOUS posted a video of the French edit including the song "La Vie en Rose" (shown below). The tweet accumulated over 4,500 likes and 700 retweets in three days.

The next day, Twitter users began using the video to illustrate different scenerios. Twitter user @WILDCORNDOGS captioned the video with: "me after my uncle tongue-kissed me" (shown below).

On June 1st, Twitter user @a_roach06 captioned the video with: "Bitches with a ukulele after learning how to play la vie en rose" (shown below). The caption gained over 2,000 likes and 500 retweets in two days.

On June 2nd, Twitter user @afadisborn[3] began a "Thread of spongebob traveling the world in drag 👛" which accumulated over 28,200 likes and 9,900 retweets in a day (shown below). Then @afadisborn created a series of videos featuring SpongeBob in different locations set to music.
That day, @JerryToThisTay retweeted one of @afadisborn's videos with the caption "Whites after watching Coco" (shown below). The retweet gained over 400 likes in a day.
