While the error was fixed in the final version, looking at the preview image for GCN Mushroom Bridge very closely shows that the truck still has an L. As such, the memory of the Flesh Truck remains. FRESAT FRESH FLESHT FLESH Players of Mario Kart DS will recognize this "Fresh Truck" seen on Shroom Ridge and GCN Mushroom Bridge. However, in the prototype version of the game, this was instead a "Flesh Truck" due to a typographical error. While it may seem random which CPUs are the best in any given race, on the highest difficulties, the top team is actually guaranteed to contain one of the five heavy characters. When playing Mario Kart: Double Dash in 150cc or Mirror modes, one of these five people is guaranteed to be the top CPU driver, and be either in 1st place or 2nd place (if the player is in 1st) for most of the race: P1 DR Note that they are all heavy. Technical explanation: In this game, CPU drivers are randomly assigned skill levels before each Grand Prix. The top team, informally called a "rival", has special rules. While there are no restrictions on what team is the rival in 50cc mode, light vehicles are prohibited from being the rival on 100cc, and only heavy vehicles are allowed for 150cc and Mirror mode. Since a heavy vehicle must have at least one heavy driver, the algorithm is forced to pick one of the five heavy drivers in the game to be the best CPU racer in the tournament. However, that is not the truth. The bananas start unloading far before that, at about 60-70 dropped. Hideki Konno, director of Mario Kart 64, in a 1996 interview: "There were many things we had wanted to add to the Super Famicom Mario Kart, but were unable to. For example, in Super Mario Kart, you can only have 4 bananas on-screen at once. I suppose it's not the kind of thing players really noticed, as the bananas were continually getting dropped and then cleared from the map in tum. As the creators, though, we had our ambitions, and we thought it would make for some super-fun battles if 100 bananas could be dropped. I feel like those ambitions have been vindicated in Mario Kart 64. We've been able to add lots and lots of stuff we couldn't before. If you want, now, you really could put down 100 bananas!" As that counts the drivers, item boxes, non-banana items, and obstacles such as trees, many of which always need to be loaded, this leaves far fewer slots for bananas. The city has been modeled inside-out so that it can only be seen from outside the track instead of within it. In Mushroom Bridge, a city can be seen in the distance. However, there is a second, invisible city on another island.
