The Meizu Pro 7 is a bizzare phone made popular by many YouTuber channel's ^{[3] [4] [5] [6]} and News outlet's ^{[1] [2]} coverage of the device. It is the first phone to have a secondary AMOLED screen, and is a widely popular phone in second-world countries. It’s uniqueness to other competitor's smartphones comes from it's Secondary AMOLED Display, custom UI, and easiness and support for Rooting (You can root a Meizu just by toggling a button in the settings). ^[4] Many popular YouTubers, including Unbox Therapy and MrWhoseTheBoss, endorsed the phone massively, also helping. ^{[4] [3]} The phone comes in three variants, Meizu Pro 7, (Average line-up) a rarer Meizu Pro 7-sized lineup with Meizu Pro 7 Fenetre Specs, and Meizu Pro 7 Fenetre. (Also known as Plus) The Meizu Pro 7 runs on Flyme 6, a heavily modified version of Android Nougat. The phone has been criticized for lack of Gyroscope, SD Card Slot, secondary display features, and water and dust protection

Origin

The phone came to fame after many popular mainstream media outlets decided to report on it after it’s announcement, including TheVerge ^[1] , and CNet ^[1]. Youtubers started to pick up on the phone a month later, leading to a few popular tech review YouTubers reviewing it. These include MrWhoseTheBoss’s video earning around 800,000 views, and Unbox Therapy’s Video , earning over a Million views ^[4]

After journalists stopped reporting on the phone in July, the Meizu Pro 7’s popularity declined later in the next month. It’s search rate was almost at a all-time low after Russian YouTuber EverythingApplePro’s criticism of the phone ^[5] was posted, earning around 600,000 views. EverythingApplePro's main concern was the lack of features for the Secondary Screen and failure to implement a gyroscope into one of the phone's three Cameras. However, a month later, many Non-American YouTubers started reporting on it , leading to another increase. ^{[7] [8]} Most notably is Rozetked’s video , earning over 500,000 views.

Impact

The impact is unnoticable at the moment. However, with products to come, competition may try to mimic the secondary screen, as companies have done before with other new innovations.
