Naoya Hair Flip, also known as Naoya Flips Hair While Beating Choso, Naoya Hair Flick or Naoya vs. Choso, is an exploitable meme based on a scene from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime in season three, episode two, showing the battle between the characters Choso vs. Naoya Zenin, in which Naoya beats Choso while dramatically flipping his hair back and fixing it with his hand during the fight. The scene garnered widespread attention and discourse after it debuted in early January 2026, inspiring artists to make redraws, reanimation memes, fan art depictions and other memes in which the two JJK characters were replaced with other people.

Origin

On January 9th, 2026, the season 3, episode 2, also known as episode 49, of Jujutsu Kaisen title "One More Time" premiered in Japan.^[1] It's based on chapters 141-144 in the manga, which were originally released in 2021.^[2]

In the episode, the character Choso is fighting against Naoya Zenin, and in one scene, Naoya is seen handily beating Choso, taking a moment to fight with one hand while flipping or brushing his blonde hair back with the other hand.

While the scene initially leaked on sites like Reddit^[5] in early November 2025, it primarily gained virality after its official release in early January 2026. On January 9th, the same day as the episode's debut, the YouTube channel Pmglory Ch. uploaded the fight scene, receiving nearly 350,000 views, 4,400 likes and 400 comments in six days, many of which commented on the hair flick moment.

Naoya's hair-flipping moment rapidly sparked discourse and memes online the same day of its release. For instance, on January 9th, X / Twitter^[6] user InfernoOmni posted the isolated clip in a tweet, saying it "might be the most disrespectful fight sequence I’ve ever seen," garnering roughly 7.2 million views, 36,000 likes and 350 replies in six days.

The hair flick was also posted to the JJK shitposting subreddit /r/Jujutsufolk^[7] that day, titled "MAPPA was straight savage for adding this extra scene of naoya hair flipping," receiving over 8,600 upvotes and 230 comments in the same timeframe.

The earliest known meme referring to the anime scene was also shared on January 9th, 2026, by X / Twitter^[8] user hourlytoji_, which compared the moment from JJK to a scene of the Shrek character Prince Charming dramatically flipping his hair, garnering over 33,300 views, 1,500 likes and 130 retweets in six days.

The scene continued to gain popularity in early January 2026, as artists and meme creators began using it to make animations, redraws, memes and fan arts based on it.

For example, on January 12th, 2026, Twitter / X^[3] user @torako778 uploaded a Bocchi The Rock! redraw using the scene as reference. The post received more than 4,800 reposts and 60,000 likes in two days.

The next day, Twitter / X^[4] user @bbpnz213 uploaded an Undertale reanimation referencing the original scene. The post received more than 17,000 reposts and 129,000 likes in one day.

On January 14th, 2026, Instagram^[9] user manganimist posted a collection of various Naoya Hair Flip Redraws created during the meme's rise, garnering over 5,800 likes, 230 shares and 30 replies in a day.

Also on January 14th, Redditor asianant posted an Everywhere I Go, I See His Face meme to the /r/JuJutsuKaisen^[10] subreddit referencing the prevalence of the Naoya meme, receiving over 2,100 upvotes and 50 comments in 23 hours.
