Sunday Best is a R&B genre song that released by the band Surfaces which later became popularity in Indonesia as part of TikTok memes and video remixes.

Origin

On July, 10th 2019, official YouTube channel Surfaces Music^[1] uploaded an Official Music Video titled "Surfaces – Sunday Best (Official Music Video)", the video gained over 22 million views (shown below).

Spread

On February, 26th 2020, Instagram user @suryaonline^[2] uploaded video showing place named Ranu Manduro at Mojokerto, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. The place was claimed similar to some landscapes at New Zealand (shown below). In the video, they explained why the place became viral (shown below).

After the video was uploaded, the place became viral and have it's nickname by Indonesian as "Feeling Good". On March, 1st 2020, Instagram user @mojokerto_story^[3] uploaded a video that showing the site became popular and many Indonesians came to the site (shown below).

Ranu Manduro Was a Former Mining

Actually Ranu Manduro was used to be a former mining site owned by company named PT. Wira Bumi. Since it's gone viral, PT. Wira Bumi already closed the site since February, 28th 2020 considering how dangerous the site is, according to Indonesian media outlet KOMPAS^[4].

"Iya ditutup (PT.Wira Bumi)," (English: Yes (the site) was closed (by PT. Wira Bumi)).

Complains

Many Indonesians thinking after they are came to the site, it's not the same like in the video that gone viral. For example on February, 26th 2020, Facebook user Fanni Ardian Syahrial^[5] uploaded a video after he came to the site and showed his disappointed reaction, the video was received 47 reactions and 40 comments (shown below).

Feeling Good refers to nickname for a former mining site Ranu Manduro, Mojokerto, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. The nickname itself using reference "Sunday Best" lyric by Surfers after the viral video about Ranu Manduro added the song on the video. The song became popular as a part of TikTok memes and video memes in Indonesia. For example on February, 29th 2020, Facebook page "Ngaklak_tv"^[6] uploaded a video with "Sunday Best" song as a background sound of the video, the video received 30 reactions (shown below).

Another example on March, 1st 2020, Facebook user M Nafis Naufally^[7] uploaded a photo that shown the sign to Ranu Manduro as "Feeling Good". The post was received 298 reactions and 42 comments (shown below).
