On July 25th, 2023, the amend_movement Instagram[1] page, a social media page used to promote the Amend Movement[2] (a life coaching and retreat program for both men and women to help people with "overcoming generational trauma, releasing limiting beliefs, and rewriting the narrative of what it means to be strong in today's society"), posted a video captioned, "The powerful roar of 30 men letting go under a waterfall." The video shows a group of men standing in a pool of water under a waterfall and screaming. It garnered over 21,400 likes in six days. On July 29th, it was posted to the @amend_movement TikTok[3] page, garnering over 2 million views in three days (shown below).

The video gained viral spread over the following days, inspiring numerous critical reactions from social media users. On July 30th, 2023, the video was posted to the /r/h3h3productions subreddit[4] under the title, "anyone else seeing these alpha male training camps on tiktok? ðŸ˜," garnering over 620 upvotes in two days. That same day, Twitter[5] user @Cespex posted the video, writing, "this misogynist male pipeline shit is getting so fucking weird bruh ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜," garnering over 4,000 likes in two days (shown below).
On July 31st, TikToker[6] @bonniedoes posted a video reaction using the content as an example of "men will do anything but go to therapy," garnering over 235,000 views in a day (shown below, left). One of the top commenters, TikToker @livingabortion, responded, "This is part of a therapy program. People really just out here hating on dudes expressing anything and calling it feminism." On the same day, TikToker[7] @pancakehuffer2000 posted a reaction to the video, garnering over 632,000 views in a day (shown below, right).
