The Saddest People Cum the Hardest and The Saddest People Shit the Loudest refers to a series of ironic catchphrases parodying the popular inspirational quote "The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people smile the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they do not wish to see anyone else suffer the way they do." Originating from a viral Tumblr post, the catchphrases have since gained popularity as captions in ironic memes.

The author of the quote is unknown. In addition to being spread as an inspirational quote, it has been used in image macros featuring sets of three characters from various fandoms (examples shown below). For example, on December 26th, 2014, a Breaking Bad macro was posted on 9GAG (shown below, left),[1] gaining over 44,400 points in five years, with a January 2nd, 2015, repost by 9GAG's Facebook[2] page accumulating over 324,000 reactions and 53,000 shares.
