Tucker Carlson "Of Course, It's Their Job" or "That's Where It Gets Interesting" refers to a series of phrasal template memes parodying the way political commentator Tucker Carlson speaks about topic, each parody beginning with "Of course" and featuring the phrases "it's their job" and "well, that's where it gets interesting." The parodies became popularized on Twitter on June 8th, 2023, each depicting Carlson talking about a comedic subject.

Origin

On June 8th, 2023, Twitter^[1] user @VandaliaPosts posted an image of Tucker Carlson taken from his Twitter show following his departure from FOX News along with a parody of his cadence of speech where he talks about Ancient Appalachian lizard-people, writing, "Of course, if Ancient Appalachian lizard-people were real, our leaders would tell us, wouldn't they? After all, we pay these people billions to study archeology. It's their job. Well, that's where it gets interesting. Our producers reached out to the WV State Archives…" The tweet gained around 300 likes in a day (shown below).

Spread

The format spread across Twitter over the course of the day, with Twitter^[2] user @rBillSimmonsPod posting the second known version, where Carlson talks about ghosts. Later that day, Twitter^[3] user @bendellwerry posted a version about Cthulhu, garnering over 1,400 likes in a day (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter^[4] user @punishednrx posted a version that gained over 3,600 likes in a day (shown below, right).

Later that day, Twitter^[5] user @MrPrudentialist posted a version where Carlson talks about Jesus and Pontius Pilate, garnering over 8,100 likes in a day. The meme was reposted by Instagram^[6] user pbfolx that day, gaining around 1,000 likes in the same span of time.
