Origin
On January 16, 2022, the YouTuber BeckBroJack posted a video called "I Fooled My Friend with WITHER STORM Mods in Minecraft" (shown below), in which he uses a Minecraft mod that adds Minecraft: Story Mode's Wither Storm boss to troll his roommates, Adam and Alec. At 10:04 in the video, Adam says that Alec stinks after finding out that his chests are empty.[1]

On November 25, 2022, Reddit user u/SMB_Fan2010 posted the first example of the meme (shown below) to r/gamingmemes, in which he thinks Jappa's new Minecraft textures that were added in the 1.14 "texture update" stink.[2]
