About
"YEAH KILLEM" is a catchphrase that originated on 4chan's International board, /int/ , as a reaction to a general attitude of Americans towards advocating for the killing of those they deem their enemies. The meme began in early May of 2018 when users of predominantly European countries started to use a modified version of the Amerimutt meme to further ridicule Americans for their hostility towards countries that aren't geopolitically aligned with the United States, such as Palestine.
Origin
The very first instance of the meme can be traced to May 19th, 2018, when an anonymous user used images of Amerimutts to represent Americans who want the destruction of Palestine (shown below). [1]
The first version of the copypasta was posted for the first time on May 21st, 2018, when anonymous users on /int/ began using pictures of Amerimutts accompanied by a greentext of the innocent groups like Vietnamese, Iraqis, Iranians, Cubans, etc… [2] On May 28th, 2018, a longer version was posted, this time addressing the USS Liberty incident as a mockery of American-Israeli relationships (shown below). [3]
Spread
Because of the predictable reactions of American posters, the meme spread further with different versions of Amerimutts and greentexts. On May 30th, 2018, an anonymous user referenced school shootings in the United States (shown below). [4]
On June 25th, 2018, a screenshot of the copypasta titled "YEAH KILLEM" was posted on Reddit by Hibear, on r/chan, getting 70 upvotes in 2 years (shown below). [5]
Variants of Amerimutts, particularly those who are running and screaming (often called "Seething X" or "MuttHurt") were redrawn and recolored in order to represent different nationalities and ethnicities, making it a snowclone and standardizing it as the meme's template.
