Yes I'm a SIMP refers to a bad acronym meme featuring the word SIMP. In the meme, users will populate the letters of "Simp" with words that have little connection to the actual definition of "Simp."

Origin

On January 1st, 2019, Reddit[1] user KamikazeGamer1 uploaded a bad acronym meme of "SIMP," making it stand for "Sniper Monkey," to the /r/Monke subreddit. The post received more than 1,900 upvotes in four years (shown below).

On January 7th, 2021, YouTube[2] user Memezulu (original uploader is X user @TomStheVoice) uploaded the video version of KamikazeGamer1's post and received more than 234,000 views in two years (shown below).

Starting in the 2020s, the parodies of "SIMP" bad acronyms grew popular on YouTube and TikTok. For example on March 25th, 2021, TikTok[3] user @remanco uploaded an edit of a SIMP bad acronym along with the song "Gaichite" by Misha Xramovi, also known as Mr. Bombastic, and received more than 2.5 million views in two years. On the next day, YouTube user Zito Navarro reposted it and received more than 2 million views in two years (shown below, left). On May 10th, 2021, YouTube[4] user Horizon95 uploaded a Mayonnaise On an Escalator edit and received 1.6 million views in two years (shown below, right).



On January 13th, 2021, YouTube[5] user Zhain uploaded an edit using Hololive talent Inugami Korone and Team Fortress 2 Source Filmmaker clips. The video received more than 380,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On May 7th, 2021, YouTube[6] user Twi Shorts uploaded a video of a SIMP acronym that related to Minecraft. The video received more than 100,000 views in two years (shown below, right).
